Abstract :Kent birçok temel özelliğe sahiptir. Din, kültür ve medeniyet değerlerini maddî biçimlerle ortaya koymaktadır. Kent, özelliklerini geçmişten devralmakta ve günümüzde devam ettirmektedir. Bu özellikleri, çeşitli değişim ve dönüşümlerle geleceğe aktarmaktadır. Bu aktarma mimarî, edebî ve tarihî eserler gibi bazı araçlarla gerçekleşmektedir. Şehrengizler, onlardan biridir.  Kent, varlığını kentli ile devam ettirebilir ve ancak kentli ile dönüşebilir. Kentli kenti oluşturmak ve dönüştürmek için miras aldığı değerleri kullanır. Bu değerleri içinde barındıran eserlerden biri de şehrengizlerdir. Divan şiirinde yer alan “Şehrengiz”, Osmanlı şehirleri ve şehirlileri hakkında malumat vermektedir.  Bu malumatlar ayrıca şehirdeki biçimler ve onların değerlerini, tarihî ve kültürel birikimini; hayat ve sanat anlayışını hissettirmekte ve anlatmaktadır. Makale için, Agâh Sırrı Levend’in insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(1958);, “ Türk Edebiyatında Şehrengizler ve Şehrengizlerde İstanbul ” adlı çalışması incelenmiş; eserden kenti ve kentliyi ilgilendiren bazı beyitler seçilmiştir. The Role Of Shahrangizs in Formation Of City Culture And Consciousness Of Urbanity The city has many key features. Religion, culture and civilization values reveals in physical formats. The properties it takes over from the past, continues/keep up today. It transfers the basic characteristics by some transformation and alteration. This transfer is done with some tools like architectural, literary and historical works. Shahrangizs is one of them. The city can continue his existence and transforms with the citizen. The citizen to creates and to transforms the city, he uses the values inherited. One of the works which contain the values in itself is shahrangizs. “Shahrangiz” which is situated in Divan Poetry, gives information about Ottoman cities and citizens. The knowledges  adumbrate and make understand  the forms in the cities and their values, cultural and historical accumulation; the sense of art and life. For the article it was examined Agâh Sırrı Levend’s work insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(1958);, by the name of “ Shahrangizs in Turkish Literature and Istanbul in Shahrangizs” and it was selected some couplets from the work about the city and citizen. It was explained the fundamental issues which Shahrangizs refer to them by sources which is written in the fields of city and architecture.
