Abstract :The principal aim of this article is to critically analyze and classify the literature on the Turkish politics and official ideology. These works are classified under five categories in terms of their methodologies and points of view: insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(i); Traditional- reactionary approach; insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(ii); Kemalist and liberal apologetic approaches; insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(iii); Historical-sociological approach; insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(iv); Analytical-critical approach; and insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(v); Neoliberal approach. It is argued that, since each has different and conflicting assumptions and methods concerning Turkish politics, their competency varies to a great extent.
