Abstract :Compactness and local compactness of the hyperspace endowed with both the Vietoris topology and the Hausdorff metric topology, have been characterized by Costantini, Levi and Pelant. Our aim is to characterize these two properties for the proximal topology, which is related to both of the previous topologies.
