Abstract :Kuala Lumpur is a developed city with an effective urban transportation system. During the process of urbanization, the relationship between the use of land and the transportation of goods cannot be disentangled. This is because they are integral parts of urban development. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are widely utilised now to analyse demographic and service distribution data. These systems also enable advanced analysis platforms. These platforms can assist planners in making key decisions, such as selecting locations for public transportation and determining which places offer the most efficient public transportation options. An analysis of several GIS functions will be carried out for this study to give researchers a better idea of where transit is concentrated geographically. Some examples of these functions are geo-processing, overlay, and buffer analysis. This research focuses on Malaysia\'s Greater Kuala Lumpur area, specifically on areas around transportation hubs (such as bus stations and taxi stands) and points of interest (POI). It has been decided to create a geodatabase that will cover the land usage of Kuala Lumpur and the MRT stations that can be found within the city itself. In this article, some functions of a geographical information system (GIS) are utilised using QGIS 3.18. The findings are used in evaluating the geographical distribution of each MRT station, which provides planners with valuable information for controlling the deployment of upcoming rail transportation in the city of Kuala Lumpur. Keywords : Geographical Information System, Transport, Buffer analysis, Land Use, Urban
