Abstract :Uvaria chamae p. Beauv., synthesizes and accumulates a variety of secondary metabolites from its root, stem, leaf and fruit. These consist mainly of essential oils, flavonoids, alkaloids and annonaceous acetogenins. Some of these biologically active secondary metabolites validate the claim made in traditional system of medicine. The present review summarizes the information available on the secondary metabolites isolated from U. chamae and their biological activities .Keywords : Secondary metabolites, alkaloids, Essential oils, Flavonoids, Annonaceous acetogenins
