However, the 21st century has witnessed discussions about the advantages and disadvantages of tourism from the perspective of sustainability. In this respect, this study intends to analyze the impacts of COVID-19 on the sustainable urban tourism literature from the perspectives of overtourism and smart tourism studies. This study tries to make a contribution to the literature through its thematic and period-based classifications of the literature. Main findings indicate that COVID-19 pandemic has affected the route of urban tourism studies. The rate of overtourism and smart tourism studies in urban context have accelerated.
