Abstract :Symphytum anatolicum Boiss. is an endemic species in the Flora of Turkey and the East Aegean Islands. It was first collected by d`Urville on the island of Cos in 1820 and named Symphytum asperrimum d`Urv. The plant was again collected by Boissier near İzmir insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Smyrna); in 1842, and described by him as S. anatolicum in 1844. There are 4 collections mentioned in the protologue in Boissier`s Flora Orientalis insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(1879);. The herbarium specimen `Hab. in umbrosis montium circa Smyrnam`, housed in G-Boiss. Herbarium, was chosen as lectotype as it best represents the species description.Keywords : Key words Symphytum anatolicum, lectotypification, Boraginaceae
