Spectral, electrochemical, luminescence, and dye-sensitized solar cell studies of mono and d-f hetero binuclear cryptates

Abstract :Mono and hetero binuclear cryptates, [Gdinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(III);ML]+ [M = VOinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(IV);, Coinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(II);, Niinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(II);, Cuinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(II);], were synthesized by a 2-step method. The ligand L represents the deprotonated anionic cryptate obtained by the 2+3 condensation of tris-insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(2-aminoethyl);amine with 2,6-diformyl-4-nitrophenol. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, spectral, magnetic, and electrochemical studies. Fluorescence of Gdinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(III); ion in the cavity was quenched by the encapsulated Cuinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(II); and Niinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(II); ions. [GdCoLinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(NO3);]+ cryptate had a high lifetime value compared to other cryptates. The cyclic voltammogram showed that the reduction potential values of [Gdinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(M);L] M = VOinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(IV);, Coinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(II);, Niinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(II);, and Cuinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(II); complexes were in the following order: Cuinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(II); > Niinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(II); > Coinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(II); > VOinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(IV);. The efficiency insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(h); of the cryptate based dye-sensitized solar cell insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(DSSC); increases in the following order: [GdVOLinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(NO3);]+ < [GdCoLinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(NO3);]+ < [GdCuLinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(NO3);]+ < [GdHL] < [GdNiLinsert ignore into journalissuearticles values(NO3);]+.Keywords : Gadolinium, binuclear complexes, electrochemistry, lifetime decay, DSSC
