The Influence of Geographic Area on Blood Parameters of Pramenka Sheep in the Area of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Abstract :Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the influence of geographical area insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(central and southwestern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina); on hematological and biochemical blood parameters of autochthonous Pramenka sheep. Materials and Methods: The study included 104 sheep from the Vlasic mountain insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(central part); insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(n = 52); and Livno insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(southwestern part); insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(n = 52);. Hematological parameters included total Red Blood Cell insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(RBC);, White Blood Cell insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(WBC);, Hemoglobin concentration insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Hb);, Hematocrit insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Hct);, M ean Corpuscolar Hemoglobin insert ignore into journalissuearticles values( MCH); , M ean Corpuscolar Hemoglobin Concentration insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(MCHC);, Mean Corpuscular Volume insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(MCV);, Mean Platelet Volume insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(MPV);, Red Cell Distribution Width insert ignore into journalissuearticles values( RDW ); and White Cell Differential Count insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(WCDC );. Parameters for biochemistry panel included : total protein insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(TP);, albumin insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(ALB);, globulin insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(GLO);, urea insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(BUM);, creatinine insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(CRE);, glucose insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(GLU);, aspartate aminotransferase insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(AST);, γ-glutamyltransferase , insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(GGT);, creatine kinase insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(CK);, cholesterol insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(CHO);, bilirubin, calcium insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Ca);, phosphorus insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(P);, sodium insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Na);, chloride insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Cl);, potassium insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(K); and magnesium insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Mg);. All hematological and biochemical analyses were performed within the next 24 hours, and until then the samples were kept at 4 °C. Hematological measurements were done using a Siemens advia 120 equipped with veterinary software. Results: Statistical analysis showed the effect of the geographic area on tested hematological and biochemical parameters. Differences were considered statistically significant at the level of significance and correlation coefficient insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(p<0,05*; p<0,01**, p<0,001***);. Conclusion: It was concluded that values showed significant differences for individual haematological and biochemical parameters in sheep for both investigated areas .Keywords : blood, pramenka, hematology, biochemistry
