Abstract :Anahtar Kelimeler: Baş-boyun bölgesine uygulanan radyoterapi, ağız kuruluğu, fluor uygulamaları, sentetik tükrük. Baş-boyun bölgesine radyoterapi uygulanan hastalarda görülen komplikasyonlann başında ağız kuruluğu, diş çürükleri, yumuşak doku haraplanması ve ostcoradyonekroz gelmektedir. Bu komplikasyonlann en aza indirilebilmesi için hasta-diş hekimi ve radyoterapisi işbirliği gerekli görülmektedir. Hastalarda bakteri plağı kontrolü, çeşitli fluor uygulamaları, sentetik tükrük kullanımı, bu amaçla önerilen yöntemler arasındadır. Key Words: Radiotherapy in the head and neck region, xerostomia, fluoride application, synthetic saliva. The complications of radiotherapy applied at the head-neck reqion are mainly xerostomia, dental caries, soft tissue damage and osteoradionecrosis. The cooperation between patient-dentist and radiotherapist will geratly help to lessen the severity of these complications. Such meauseres as bacterial plaque demostration to the patient, various fluoride applications and usage to synthetic saliva are among these precautions.
