Abstract :The relevance of research: In the context of Kazakhstan`s integration into the world academic community and the formation of an open educational space of higher education institutions, the important task is to improve the quality of higher education in accordance with the modern requirements. In modern conditions, there is a growing need for people capable of creative search and continuous self-education. Higher requirements are imposed on the individual and the professional training of the teacher, whom the level of education of society as a whole largely depends on. The ability to self-education is considered as the most important professional quality of a specialist, as an important component of professional competence. Purpose of the study: to justify the role and importance of self-education as an important factor in increasing the professional competence of teachers. Results of the study: the psychological and pedagogical conditions for the development of skills and self-education have been revealed, the students` attitudes towards self-education have been studied, the students` self-education technologies have been studied, synthesized, adapted and introduced into the teaching and educational process, the set of study assignments aimed at developing self-educational skills, that is the work with scientific and methodical literature, specialty literature, material selection, note-taking and systematization of educational material, planning own educational and scientific activities, etc. The final diagnosis of the work of students has proved the dependence of the future teacher‘s level of the professional competence formation on the level of skills and skills of self-education of students.
