Abstract :In this article the city Jerusalem will be approached from a different viewpoint i.e. instead of “Art in Jerusalem”, “Jerusalem in Art” will be dealt with. The image of Jerusalem will be searched through from the aspects of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Starting as early as the second century and coming up to the 20th century representations of the image of Jerusalem have been revealed under the following headings: Early Jewish Art, Early Christian Art, Middle Ages Western European Art, Greek Orthodox Art, Renaissance Art, Middle Ages Islamic Art, the Art of the Diaspora, Orientalism in the 19th century, and Modern Art.
