Abstract :An analysis of the development of the production and resource potential of rural areas of the Issyk-Kul region was carried out. Based on the methods of socio-economic and comparative analysis, factors of low efficiency in the use of land resources, poor development of the agro-processing sector were identified. The conditions for reducing the tourism potential, shortcomings in the use of credit resources are determined. The mechanisms are substantiated by expanding the powers and functions of local governments in terms of the effective use of the potential of rural areas.
