Abstract :Purpose:Permanent hearing loss is one of the most common congenital diseases. Its incidence is thought to be between 1-3 per thousand live births. It is known that hearing loss can be detected at the earliest age of 2 if screening is not performed. This has been reported to have very bad consequences for the child\\\`s development. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate all newborn hearing screenings performed in 2018 in hospitals in Sakarya. Patients and Methods:The research covers newborn hearing screenings performed in 2018 in the hospitals in Sakarya Province. A screening test was performed on a total of 15235 newborns. Results:İn 2018, 15235 babies were screened for hearing in Sakarya province. 33.7% of babies did not pass the first screening test. 5135 babies were taken to the second screening test. 131 of them did not pass the second screening test. Referrals were made to the reference hospital for further examination and treatment. Conclusion:Failure to perform the first screening test as a standard in all hospitals is one of the most important obstacles to the success of the screening program. We think that the certification of the hospitals on this issue and regular follow-up of the frequencies of the screening will make the program more successful. Keywords : infant, hearing loss, screening
