Abstract :Purpose: H.pylori is a bacteria with a high affinity to the stomach and its colonization is limited to the gastric epithelium only. With time chronic superficial gastritis related to H.pylori infection can lead to the development of atrophic gastritis, therefore giving way to gastric corpus involvement. Hence, choosing the most appropriate and optimal biopsy location of H.pylori is gaining increasing importance. Thus, although H.pylori has a preference to colonize the gastric antrum initially, over time with the advancement age and/or the development of atrophic gastritis, a predominant gastric corpus settlement is observed. The purpose of this study was to compare the rate of H.pylori positivity from biopsies taken from the gastric antrum versus corpusKeywords : Helicobacter pylori, colonization, biopsy
