Abstract :Autoimmune hepatitis is a chronic, progressive and inflammatory liver disease of unknown etiology. The diagnosis of the disease is based on exclusion of viral hepatitis and detection of , circulating autoantibodies, hypergammaglobulinemia, and liver biopsy findings such as mononuclear cell infiltration in the portal and periportal areas. Severe hyperbilirubinemia is extremely rare. Herein, we are reporting a child who was diagnosed type 2 autoimmune hepatitis with the predominant and initial presentation of jaundice and severe hyperbilirubinemia. Jaundice was dramatically responsive to immunosuppressive treatment.
