Abstract :  The diversification after Caliph Othm?n’s murder during his caliphate has crucial importance for being the prelude of first political manifestation of Ahl al-Sunna which will be called later as the mass crowd (saw?d al-a?zam) of Islamic society. In this study, what has been examined is the transformation of early Othm?niyya which means “to believe that Othm?n was murdered outrageously and this must be avenged” to latter Othm?niyya which means “to believe that the caliphate of Ab? Bakr, Omar, Othman and Al? are valid and legitimate”. This study, in which Othm?nis in primary cities of Islamic world and their thoughts attempted to be projected, concludes with the statement of Othm?niyya that J?hiz systematised. Hence the conception of Othm?niyya did not have the features to become an independent sect, it melted into Ahl al-Sunna and totally disappeared in the fourth century of Hegira.
